K. A. Hays is the author of four full-length poetry collections, and co-translator, with Keith Waldrop, of Before Wisdom: The Early Poems of Paul Verlaine (2023). Poems from Hays’ Anthropocene Lullaby (2022), Windthrow (2017), Early Creatures, Native Gods (2012), and Dear Apocalypse (2009) have appeared in Best American Poetry (2009, 2011), Best New Poets, and many magazines, including Southern Review, American Poetry Review, Tin House, and Gray's Sporting Journal. Born in Phoenixville, Pennsylvania in 1980, Hays studied literature at Bucknell and Oxford universities, and earned an M.F.A. in the Literary Arts (fiction) from Brown University in 2005. A 2018 Fellow at Vermont Studio Center and 2011 poet-in-residence at the Robert Frost Place in Franconia, New Hampshire, Hays teaches in the Creative Writing Program at Bucknell.
